He finished his MSc and Licenciatura in Electrical Engineering at the University of Coimbra. He was a lecturer and researcher at the Polytechnical Institute of Leiria, and at the Telecommunications Institute in Lisbon.
From about 10 years of age, he was interested in photography, learning with his family, some books and a camera (the good Olympus OM10). Until 1997 he used his OM10 in other photographic projects, including photographic coverage for school books, for important editors. In 1994-1996 he made use of photography for registering the mountains of England and Wales (Lake District, Snowdonia and others) or of Spain (Picos de Europa). In 1997 his OM10 was stolen on a journey. Only in 2000 does he recover photography, as a serious amateur, together with mountaineering, travels for work or for vacation to many destinations.
In 2007 he established Alma Lux Photographia, in a fundamental moment of change he undertook in his professional career. This was after 10 years of well-succeeded practice and teaching, in Engineering and Research, both internationally and nationally.
His favourite Photography themes cover Nature, Trees, Architecture, Peoples and Cultures, for landscape, portrait, travel photography, macro and fine art.
His work has been valued in exhibitions, following conceptual approaches, as in Tempus Fugit (own), Vertical Horizons (own) and mind On Mountains (with photographer Nuno Verdasca), in Leiria, Oporto, Manteigas, Estoril and Espinho. These have also been prized in photography contests, international or national, as in the IPA2008 – International Photography Awards 2008 (with 5 Honourable Mentions in Fine Art-Landscape, Fine Art-Other, Nature-Trees, People-Portrait, People-Family), in the french PHOTO Magazine or in the portuguese FOTOdigital Magazine.
